This was a typical semi detached house with existing small extension to the rear. The owners required a two storey extension to the side, and also extend the small extension at the rear across the new extension. One of the main objectives was to ensure that the new extension blended in to the original property and not to appear as just an "add on" to the side.
Above is a view of the rear extension which was extended across the new extension (below) resulting in the whole corner of the original property being removed. Structural engineers were involved at the design stage to ensure the correct size RSJ's were used and the structure of the property was not compromised. As you can see the extension roof was re laid in slate to match the main roof of the house.
